Services provided by Open Grid Europe have proven their worth time and again for over 50 years. We can now offer these services to our distributor customers in the form of pipe network designs and pressure measurements.
In the early days our services involved designing town gas grids, then later on the move to natural gas and the systematic expansion of natural gas supplies took centre stage. Because many of our gas utility customers were also water suppliers, our services covered water pipe networks too.
As a result we have been able to accumulate wide-ranging know-how and continuously develop our design tools. Today, services we offer include developing long-term design concepts and reviewing operational measures (e.g. isolating sections of pipelines, loss of an entry point). Our wide range of services also include network data preparation and evaluation, pressure measurements as well as special case studies (e.g. injecting biomethane into pipe networks at the final distributor stage).
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS
We use customised software tools for flexible, efficient grid planning and calculations.
We use powerful programs, which are constantly being improved as part of our day-to-day work. This is how we developed OptiPlan, a powerful, user-friendly design tool for gas and water grids, which is also made available to other utilities. We designed it and refined it together with our customers.
OptiPlan can be used to quickly check different planning options and obtain answers to the usual “what-if” questions in daily grid operation (e.g. when a line section needs to be isolated, or a grid entry point shut down, etc.) Apart from this tried and tested program, we use also various other tools, such as the STANET grid calculation program to help our customers, who are not using OptiPlan, with integrating the results of our pressure measurements in their system.
